Doctor

  • Thomas Collins , DVM


    Dr. Thomas Collins is a graduate of Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a small animal internal medicine, surgical and emergency medicine internship at South Paws Veterinary Referral Center in Fairfax, VA.  Dr. Collins purchased the Ballston Animal Hospital from the previous owner in January of 2006.  

    During his leisure time, Dr. Collins performs on drums with The ML Band. Visit the band at www.themlband.com.

  • Gretchen Tripp , DVM


    Dr. Tripp originally hails from Conklin, NY.  She received a B.S. in Biology from Southhampton College, LIU in 1987. Prior to attending veterinary school she worked for Northeast Fisheries Service and bar tended in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  Dr. Tripp received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992.  Her thesis involved the study of orangutans at Tanjung Puting Reserve in Borneo.  She has been happily practicing veterinary medicine in the Northern Virginia area since 1993 and joined Ballston Animal Hospital in February, 2006.  She lives in Fairfax with her husband, two sons, two dogs, two cats, one leopard gecko, one fire belly toad and five fish.

  • Kira Leedom , DVM


    Dr. Kira Leedom is a graduate of Ross University's College of Veterinary Medicine.  Since joining the practice in November of 2004, Kira has become a valuable member of the Ballston Animal Hospital healthcare team.  Dr. Leedom is a well educated, compassionate and sincere veterinarian, who continues to impress clients and staff with the love and care she shows for her patients.

  • Dr. Ryan Jennings , DVM


    Dr. Ryan Jennings grew up in Roanoke, VA and received her undergrad degree from William and Mary and her DVM from Virginia Tech.  She practiced in the Fairfax area since graduating vet school in 2003 and joined Ballston in January 2008.  She is glad to now have a short commute and to be living and working in the same community!
    When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Jennings enjoys outdoor activities (hiking, biking, running), traveling, going out with friends, and college football (Go Hokies!).  She lives in Arlington with her fiance and and a big orange tabby cat named Oscar.

  • Tony


    Head Veterinary Technician – A native of Washington DC, Tony has been in the animal health care field for twenty six years.  For thirteen years, Tony worked as a surgical assistant at Langley Animal Hospital, in Hyattsville, MD.  Tony was also employed at Washington Animal Center Neuter & Spay Clinic, and for two years at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.  Tony has been a vital member of the Ballston Animal Hospital team for going on eleven years now.

    Veterinary Technician – Anne has been in the animal healthcare field for over twenty years.  Anne began at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, and joined the Ballston Animal Hospital team in 2003. 

    “I truly enjoy working here at the hospital and am very passionate about animal care.”

    Veterinary Technician/Receptionist - Janira is a veteran staff member at the hospital, having worked here since 1998.  Janira has a dog named "Maximus" and a cat "Caesar"...who are surprisingly the best of friends.  Janira is currently enrolled in courses at NVCC to finish her studies and become a licensed veterinary technician.


  • Aimee


    Veterinary Technician - Aimee has spent her entire working career in the animal healthcare field, and is currently studying at NOVA to become a licensed veterinary technician.  Aimee has been with Ballston Animal Hospital since April of 2006.  Aimee also has an F.E.L.V. positive cat named "Ellie".

     


  • Dawn


    Veterinary Technician - Dawn joined the Ballston Animal Hospital team in May of 2006, and has truly enjoyed herself working at the hospital.  Dawn has been in the animal health care profession for 6 years, and has worked in a variety of animal healthcare settings.  Dawn has 3 cats and 1 dog.

    Veterinary Technician - Stephanie has been in animal health care for 9 years, and joined the BAH team in October of 2006.  Prior to joining the BAH staff, Stephanie worked in the Emergency Critical Care Unit at South Paws Veterinary Referral Center in Fairfax, VA for seven years.

    Front Desk Receptionist - Amber is new to the veterinary medicine field, and has been working at the hospital since moving from Michigan in May of 2006.  Amber recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named “Brady”, and has just returned back to work this month.  Amber also recently purchased a home in Alexandria that she shares with her two dogs, "Noah" and "Loki".
